Merry Christmas again??

Merry Christmas again :)

7th of January is Christmas Day for the Orthodox Churches and for some European countries..

I just found out today, that it falls on the
7th of January every year because they follow the Julian Calendar.
The Julian Calendar was used in the Ancient Roman times during the ruling of Julius Caesar. Julius -> Julian..see the connection :)
(ok, it says Happy New Year in the picture because for the Russians, celebrating the New Year is a bigger deal for them than Christmas)
In the Julian Calendar, Christmas Day falls on the 25th of December, then the whole world started using the Gregorian Calendar (which is the one we all use now, unless you're some person in your own world, time and space).
The equivalent of the 25th Dec in the Julian Calendar is 7th Jan in the Gregorian Calendar. I guess the wanted to preserve the accuracy of the date, who knows..I just thought that the Russians
just wanted to do things their own way..stupid me..

Anyway..why the 25th of December then??
Originally the 25th of December in Rome was to celebrate some Pagan holiday.
Then when the ruler of Rome at that time (Julius Caesar i think, i don't remember *sorry*) received Christ, he sort of abolished that Pagan holiday.

Instead of celebrating the Pagan god..He celebrated Christ, being thankful of the birth of Jesus Christ.
According to some historians and what not, 25th December isn't the actually date that Christ was born.
Well, that's the brief history behind Christmas, hope i was clear, not confusing and got my facts right..
Oh well..tra la la la la..for us, Christmas IS everyday.
Thank You ,God!!!!
